I just received an email from AAA about a good deal for a 8-day 6-night trip to London and Paris if you between the ages of 18 and 35. The trip is actually through Contiki. It costs $965 per person and is through March 23 to October 12. Here’s the details from the email:

Discover London and Paris on this action-packed tour with other 18-35 year old travelers from around the world. But no need to negotiate maps, guidebooks, transportation or currency exchange – leave that to Contiki! Contiki Tours not only take you to the most desirable destinations but they encourage you to see the world with fresh eyes as you share new experiences with travelers your own age.

Your adventure begins with three days in London that includes a city tour of major sights like Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London and Houses of Parliament. Attend a West End musical and stroll the hip neighborhood of Soho. You may also choose an optional day trip to see the city of Bath and the ancient monoliths of Stonehenge (at additional cost). Plus, there’s plenty of free time and a 1-day pass on the London subway to do your own thing.

Eiffel TowerThen you’re off to Paris for three days where you’ll take an Illuminations Tour of the city followed by a cruise on the River Seine. See the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre, the Champs Élysées, and Notre Dame Cathedral. Also visit a French perfumery and take a guided tour of the Palace of Versailles. There will still be time to shop, visit museums, people watch at the many outdoor cafes, and soak up the “joie de vivre!”

Price includes:
• 6 nights hotel accommodations in twin-share rooms
• 6 breakfasts and 2 three-course dinners
• Transportation by modern, air-conditioned motor coach plus ferry crossing of English Channel
• Services of experienced, professional Tour Manager and Driver
• Sightseeing tours of London and Paris plus a day trip to the Palace of Versailles
• Ticket to a West End musical in London and cruise of the River Seine in Paris
• Contiki Travelers Guide and document wallet
• Hotel tips, local taxes and service charges

So, this would be a really cool Summer vacation. Thinking of doing it myself, anyone else?

  • Good points raised here. I am grateful to you for that, however you deserve more thanks than that. I suffer from color blindness (deuteranopia in my case). I mainly use Opera browser (no idea if that changes anything), and a considerabland a number of web sites are challenging to comprehend thanks to a careless range of colours used. However, here, as the range of colors is good, the design is extremely tidy and pleasant to comprehend. I don’t know whether it was a premeditated and conscious undertaking, or just the ‘luck of the draw’, but I still thank you.

  • Well – doing this in Chapters….but from now on I’ll do them on just this one thread – hope it is easier for folks! BYW – my jet lag has finally let go I think – I feel like “myself” today for the first time since Paris!

  • I am taking a last minute trip to Paris at the end May (I’m very excited!) and have been searching for a triple room. I have made a bunch of inquiries and have a few proposals already. My first choices, which were booked were Hotel Clement, Hotel Bonaparte, Hotel Familia, Hotel Minerve, Grand Hotel des Balcons and Hotel St. Jacques. I’ve kind of narrowed my search to 5th, 6th, but found one in the 1st that looks interesting. I want an elevator and television with English channels, and the usual clean,etc.. I think I’ve narrowed it down to these hotels.

  • The Champs Elysées stay busy until about 4am (lots of clubs and bars on the side streets). Then it starts getting busy again around 4:01 when the early sleepers start exiting the clubs. Frankly, I think that the pickpockets and ring scammers are in bed at that time.
